It’s Day of the Mushroom, so we have to talk about how mushrooms, NOT DAIRY, provide us VITAMIN D 🍄➡️ Surely you’ve heard cow’s milk is a good source of vitamin D, but many people don’t realize vitamin D is NOT NATURALLY FOUND IN DAIRY PRODUCTS. Instead, it is fortified and added for nutritional benefit.

About 1 billion people globally have low vitamin D levels, which is an important nutrient for bone health, muscle function, nerves, and the immune system. Many non-dairy milks are also fortified with vitamin D (as well as calcium, vitamin B12, and other nutrients) and can be a great source in your diet. Exposing your skin to the sun is effective as well, but can be difficult for many people during a large portion of the year. Fortunately we have a solution to help meet your vitamin D needs: mushrooms 🍄

REMEMBER: The ADD SOY Act is not dead! 🗣️ 🙌

As a reminder, back in December, we had a historic opportunity to include ADD SOY as an amendment to the Whole Milk Bill, with a strong chance that the bill would pass.
Our amendment wasn’t popular with the Rules Committee who decides which amendments will or will not make it to the floor for a vote, and the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act, sans our amendment, passed the House floor, and it’s now in the hands of the Senate.

So, what does this mean for the ADD SOY Act moving forward?
🥛 The Act is very much alive and still has strong bipartisan support from very heavy hitters in the House and Senate.
🥛 We still need your letters to urge your Representatives and Senators to co-sponsor the Act. The more support it has from lawmakers and the more enthusiasm lawmakers from constituents like you – the greater chance we have of finally bringing the ADD SOY Act to a vote this year.
🥛 Public support for the Act is building again and we need your help to make this dream a reality.
