When it comes time to celebrate Thanksgiving, the Switch4Good coalition is all about sharing delicious dairy-free Thanksgiving recipes with friends and family. And whether it’s your first dairy-free Thanksgiving or your twentieth, we could all use some exciting new recipes. We asked two stellar dairy-free chefs to share their holiday favorites, and while they omit cow’s milk, they certainly are not lacking in tradition, nutrients, or flavor. Whip up these four amazing dairy-free recipes for your Thanksgiving feast, and no one will ask you to pass the butter.

Dairy-Free Thanksgiving Recipes:

1. Smoky Sweet Potato Soup with Jalapeno Cornbread

Any other day of the year, this hearty soup and cornbread combo can stand as a meal on its own. For Thanksgiving, it’s just one of many mouthwatering courses – literally, those jalapenos pack a punch! The soup is rich and complex, thanks to the addition of spices and liquid smoke. Sweet, smoky, spicy, savory – it’s all there. Serve the cornbread on the side or crumble a bit on top to make croutons. It’s a perfect match.

2. Pressure Cooker Seitan with Red Wine Mushroom Sauce

Although up for debate, many will argue that the Thanksgiving meal is all about the main course. Instead of a turkey, we’re serving up this restaurant-quality showstopper. Seitan is packed with protein and gives the same satisfaction and chew as meat. The mushrooms and red wine add depth of flavor and a definite “wow” factor. This recipe proves that butter and cream aren’t the only ways to add richness to a dish. It’s all about seasoning and awesome plant-based ingredients.

3. Pumpkin Pie

For those who firmly believe there is no Thanksgiving without pumpkin pie, this sweet dish will make your holiday. It’s actually a blend of butternut squash and pumpkin, so it packs in tons of fiber and vitamins along with a “better-than-your-grandma’s” taste. The flaky, buttery crust and velvety filling will make everyone beg for the recipe. Top with some homemade or store-bought dairy-free whip!

4. Apple Cider Cupcakes

Not everyone is into pie, but that doesn’t mean skipping dessert. These festive cupcakes perfectly capture the aroma and spices of the season, and no one will guess they’re dairy-free. They also use less sugar and oil than traditional cupcakes, so you’ll be ready to take on your cousin in the annual family football game – without the food coma!
